For starters, you don't need to match special icons to activate them - you can tap them twice instead. But while the interior decorating parts of this are limited, and really only motivate you to keep going, the puzzle parts add some fun new mechanics to this familiar puzzle type. You then use these stars to buy new furnishings for your childhood home, or to perform such tasks as sweeping the floor. In Homescapes, you have to match three or more of the same kind and color items so you can clear the board and earn stars. What are they thinking, "let's piss everyone off and get lots of negative press so that a significant number of people will vow to never play our actually perfectly decent mobile game"? Do the advertising team get paid per download, even if the app is immediately deleted, so just went totally off the rails? The mind boggles.While adding a home decorating component doesn't really make this more fun, this match-3 puzzle game does have some new mechanics that make it stand out a little. I have no fucking idea what they're trying to do with those adverts, though. I like the "refurbishing a house" angle with the customisation, it's got good graphics, works well on my tablet and has such abundant powerups (at least if you only play it occasionally like I do) that you never feel like they're trying to force you to pay money. I like to hit a bunch of levels and then buy some cute furniture/forward the little story with the points I've saved up. ![]() I had never seen any adverts for it when I downloaded it and honestly, it's a good game for mindlessly playing while watching trash TV or whatever. ![]() Phew, glad I'm not the only one who thinks this! ![]()
